Cure For Arthritis
Arthritis is the collective term used to describe nearly 100 forms of joint diseases and disorders caused by various factors. The severity and effects of the different forms of arthritis vary but despite such diversification, one can rest assured that a potent cure is available which at most, can reduce the intensity of the disorder. For the most prevalent forms of arthritis namely gout arthritis, rheumatoid arthritis and osteoarthritis the methods employed for curing and reducing the severity of the condition varies significantly.
Considering the case of gout arthritis primarily, the disorder is characterized by deposition of crystals of uric acid in the spaces of joints due to the improper metabolism of purines (component of ribonucleic acids) in the body. Also heavy alcohol and meat consumption can lead to gout arthritis. Managing gout can be done by undergoing medication and also by changing one's lifestyle and eating habits. Long term prevention of gout arthritis is achieved by administration of allopurinol while NSAIDS (Non Steroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drugs) and corticosteroids are used to alleviate the inflammatory symptoms. Lifestyle changes such as decreasing intake of meat, alcohol and seafood, increasing intake of vitamin C and preventing obesity can dramatically cause the disease to subside.
Rheumatoid arthritis is a severe form of arthritis which is usually an autoimmune disorder wherein the immune system of the body attacks its own body parts. This is due to genetic defects inherited by the individual and it results in manifestation of a systemic inflammatory disorder. Apart from the deterioration of joints several other organs like the lungs, kidneys, heart and blood vessels, eyes and the peripheral nervous system can be affected. It can also lead to irreversible joint deformation. There is no specific cure for treating rheumatoid arthritis; however one can resort to physiotherapy such as heat treatments and ice massages, use of orthotic devices or by special forms of exercising. The types of medication used for treatment include NSAIDS like aspirin for reducing inflammation, DMARDS (Disease Modifying Anti Rheumatic Drugs) like hydroxychloroquine and sulfasalazine. For extreme cases highly toxic drugs like azathioprine or cyclophosphamide have to be used under stringent medical supervision.

Compared to rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis does not have multiple adverse effects in the body and can be pretty much regulated under proper medication and maintaining healthy lifestyle. The bone deterioration caused by osteoarthritis can be reversed by increasing the bone density and flexibility of joints. The most prescribed cure for osteoarthritis is the drug Risedronate sodium sold under the commercial name Actonel. It is used for treating osteoporosis, a degenerative disease similar to osteoarthritis which primarily occurs in post-menopausal women.
Apart from the allopathic medication, traditional methods are also widely practiced to cure and alleviate arthritic pain. This includes acupuncture, yoga, tai chi, use of Ayurvedic medicines, Unani etc. It is also advisable to consume complementary dietary supplements like vitamin C tablets, foods rich in omega 3 fatty acids like fish oil, organic butter, walnuts and coconut oil and supplements containing glucosamine, chondroitin and cetyl myristoleate.
